Barbarann Keffer currently serves as the first Democrat elected to an at-Large Council position in Upper Darby Township, the 6th largest municipality in Pennsylvania. In 2008, she won Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award for organizing a grassroots recycling campaign in her community. A late-bloomer in the political realm, Barbarann has worked as a professional basketball player in Ireland and Germany, in a fish processing plant in Valdez, Alaska as well as many blue collar jobs on the East and West Coasts. Barbarann is a graduate of Harvard University with a degree in Government. She lives in Drexel Hill with her husband and their two daughters. Since 2009, she has served on the Board of the Darby Creek Valley Association. More than almost anything else, Barbarann enjoys self-promotion as well as the masochistic but noble endeavor of running for political office. Speaking of which, she is running for re-election to Township Council in 2017 and she adheres to the idiom “no rest for the wicked”.
