About Barbarann

Barbarann is currently serving her first term as Mayor.

Barbarann was raised in Delaware County in a Union household. She graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School in 1984 and from Harvard University four years later with a degree in Government. At Harvard, Barbarann played on the basketball team, winning two Ivy League titles and was named to the All-Ivy League team four times. She then extended her basketball career, playing overseas in Ireland and Germany.

Before moving back to the area, she travelled extensively throughout North and Central America, Western Europe and Southern Africa and has lived and worked in San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, the Jersey Shore and Valdez, Alaska. Barbarann lives in Drexel Hill with her husband John and their two daughters and currently works as an Administrator for Rutledge Borough.

In 2008, Barbarann received Bank of America’s Local Hero Excellence Initiative Award for organizing the grassroots single-stream recycling movement in our Township; with part of the award money, she purchased over 60 trees to plant in our township parks and our district, parochial and private schools. She is a Board Member of the Darby Creek Valley Association and has been the Volunteer Coordinator for its annual Watershed Wide Clean-Up from 2010-2015 as well as a clean-up captain through 2019.

Barbarann has coached youth basketball for St. Bernadette’s CYO program and in the Highland Park-Kirklyn program. She also coached the freshman girls’ team at UDHS for two seasons. In 2011, Barbarann received the Mayor’s Service Award and in 2012, she graduated from UDPD’s Citizen’s Police Academy. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Elected Democratic Woman Award from the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women.

In August 2019, Barbarann earned the Certified Borough Official (CBO) designation from the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs. Her previous municipal work experience includes Sharon Hill Borough Administrator (June 2021-January 2022), Rutledge Borough Administrator (June 2018-June 2020) and Millbourne Borough Manager (October 2015-September 2017). From 2011-2013, Barbarann worked as a Legislative Assistant for State Representative Margo Davidson focusing on constituent services and community outreach.
